The rock...

Today was a fun day. We packed up the camper after a three night stay in the state park and drove to Plymouth, MA where we went to the plimoth (that's how they spell it) plantation. They have a huge area dedicated to teaching what life was life in the 1620s. They had a demonstration of how the Wampanoag Indians lived. There were people dressed as native people who would demonstrate the way the cooked, made canoes, and did daily life.

Then we proceeded onto the colonists village, which was set up to mimic the pilgrims village.
They had people everywhere who were dressed the part and role playing as if they were the settlers. They even spoke with a British accent, which our kids got a kick out of. They called Levi, "A wee bit of flesh." If you asked them something that they would not have known then they would tell you that must not be an english word. I learned a lot by talking to the people. It was interesting how they talked about daily life, their religion, and other colonists. We were there for 6 hours in total, a fun morning.

After we left there we headed to the actual spot the pilgrims had their village. It was so surreal to be standing in the spot that played such a huge role in our country.
Here is a picture of the Plymouth Rock. The rock used to be much larger but people chisel off a piece to take as a souvenir.   Now they have it secured a little better.

After Plymouth we drove to cape cod, where we are tonight. It is raining of course, and will be almost all day tomorrow. Oh well, we will still have fun here. We had a nice night just relaxing in the camper in the rain talking with the kids, it felt good to just kick back a little. This is night 12 after all. As of a few days ago we had already put 2,000 miles on the trusty mini-van.
Good night!
